Welcome to St James Medical Practice

During these unprecedented times we have had to implement many changes to the usual working arrangements at the Practice. We are grateful to you all for your support and adaptability to a new way of accessing healthcare. As there have been so many changes recently, we thought it would be a good idea to put together a summary of the latest Practice News to help keep you all up to date.

Consultations and Clinics

In line with latest advice from NHS England and our CCG, we have restarted many long term condition reviews, such as health checks for those with learning disabilities, asthma reviews and blood pressure checks to name just a few.

We continue to offer e-consultations, however, if you have any difficulties with online access please do telephone the Practice and an appointment can be made for you over the phone.

New Staff

Since the onset of the Pandemic earlier this year, we have worked hard to ensure that our team continues to provide a high quality of care. We are delighted to announce the following additional clinical members of our team who have all joined since March 2020:

You Say, We Did

We are pleased to announce the return of our well-received group educational sessions. These will be held approximately every 6 weeks to cover a range of topics. To comply with Government guidelines these will be held online via Zoom. You can join without activating your video and without giving your real name. All that we ask is that you let us know if you will be attending so that we can keep a log of those who joined the sessions.

We are kicking off these sessions with our Paramedic Practitioner who will be presenting on the topic of Basic Life Support for children followed by a brief presentation on childhood immunisations. You can find details for how to join here:

We are also pleased to inform you that we are hoping to re-open the main entrance to the building in the next couple of weeks. We are waiting for the installation of a new Intercom system which will ensure that reception is able to monitor entry into the building for infection control and social distancing purposes. The waiting area will also re-open although there will be a limit of 4-5 people at any one time. Collection of forms (eg blood test forms) will continue to take place at the back window from 10am until6pm Monday – Friday.

New patient registrations have continued throughout the Pandemic however we would encourage you to complete this via our website. If you are unable to do so you can collect the forms from the Practice and complete it this way too.

The grassy area adjacent to the back window has been identified as a slip hazard, particularly on a rainy day. Thank you to those who have brought this to our attention. We have now placed durable rubber mats over the grass which should hopefully improve this situation.
